It's not Parasite. Some say it's got a similar theme. Sure. But it's not even close to Parasite. It's better than The White Lotus. Some say it's similar to The White Lotus too. It's way better than The White Lotus, although The White Lotus' bar is pretty low. The White Lotus can be summarized as a show about hotel guests having breakfasts and dinners.
There are parts of the film that I really like. I like that scene in the beginning, at the restaurant. That conversation between Carl and Yaya was real and relevant. Minutes into the film, Harris Dickinson proved himself that he can be the next Hollywood superstar. I like the scenes that poked fun at influencer culture, like when Carol took photos of Yaya pretending to eat pasta, even though Yaya's gluten intolerant. I like that awkward conversation between Vera and the female employee, by the pool. Vera asked the female employee to take a break and jump in the pool. The female employee felt uncomfortable at the request and said no. She then remembered a staff briefing she was at earlier, where she was told to never say no to the customers. Abigail's commanding I'm the captain scene. Who could forget? That scene is the film. And the ending. And more! The film is full of great bits, dialogues, acting. What I don't like about the film is its anthology-esque format. I also don't like Iris Berben's character. Her one liner is silly.
