Why is this film so poorly rate? Haters. It's got a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I was curious about the Rotten Tomatoes scores for the other films on the list. So I looked them up. The Girl on the Train scored the lowest. 50 First Dates came in second to last with a 45% score. I guess that's expected for an Adam Sandler film. I love 50 First Dates. It's my favorite rom-com. Basic Instincts came in third to last with a 56% score. Too erotic? The Reader came in fourth to last with a 63% score. That's shocking. An Oscar Best Picture nominated film. The Reader is a coming-of-age film, a case study about how a whirlwind affair a teenage boy had with an older woman affected his adulthood. I don't think everyone sees the film that way. The Reader is misunderstood. Darren Aronofsky's mother! came in fifth to last with a 68% score. I knew that film's critically divisive. So no surprise there. However, I am surprised mother! beat all the aforementioned films. American Psycho rounded out all the films on the list with Rotten Tomatoes scores under 70%. American Psycho, like Basic Instincts, was probably too graphic some prudes. Fourteen out of the 86 films had Rotten Tomatoes scores under 80%.
