First and foremost, The Departed is a remake of one of the greatest Hong Kong films of all time, Infernal Affairs. The Departed is a really good film. Thanks to the genius of the creators of Infernal Affairs. If Infernal Affairs were texts on a Word doc, Martin Scorsese did a Ctrl+A, changed the font to Hollywood and renamed the document to The Departed. Okay. To be completely fair, there are a couple minor differences between the plots of the two films. Leonardo DiCaprio gave a Leonardo DiCaprio performance. Leo. He's a safe choice for a film. When in doubt, put Leo in. Leo will do a good job. He just won't blow you away. Matt Damon was so punchable in this film. I guess that means he did his job. I'm all worked up because the creators of Infernal Affairs are not getting the recognition they deserve. Did you know The Departed was a remake? Point exactly. Now go watch Infernal Affairs.
