I've only heard great things about No Country for Old Men, especially its screenplay. Strong source material, they say. It's an alright film. It's not Infernal Affairs, The Dark Knight, The Shawshank Redemption, or Parasite.
Infernal Affairs is slick in its plot. The Dark Knight is stylish in its storytelling. The Shawshank Redemption is inspiring. Parasite's got a stern message about economic disparity. No Country for Old Men has none of these qualities. The film was linear, one dimensional. Sure it's got great moments. But overall, the film lacked creativity in its story, delivery, and a relatable message.
It's not a bad film. Hence it's on the List. The action sequence, the thriller elements did keep me locked in from start to finish. I just wish it had a little more pizzazz.
