I did not predict the ending. The movie was misleading. In the best way. There is a film style I strongly dislike. Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien is a master at that style. Minimal dialogues. When the characters do talk, the volume is very faint. Sounds like background chatters. Scenes are mundane. All about the mood. Every frame is an exercise of Blue's Clue. The audience is expected to pay close attention and seek out critical details. Ich Seh, Ich Seh has that style. However, there is something about Ich Seh, Ich Seh that worked that didn't work for other films with similar style, like Hou Hsiao-hsien's The Assassin and Jonathan Glazer's The Zone of Interest.
I like the use of blinds as backdrop. I like the use of the timer's tick sound. I like the bandage the Mom wore during the first half of the film. How the face's bandaged. That was thought about. The Mom in this film looked way creepier than the Mom in the 2022 American remake of the film. I like that the twins looked exactly alike. The film worked because you can't tell the twins apart. Every element of this film is intentional to induce uncertainty, discomfort and anxiety. Quietly. Something's not right. You know something's not right. It's right in front you. But you can't quite put your finger on it.
