I would watch this movie again. If I have kids, I would watch this movie with my kids. This and Mulan.
Harry Potter came out right around the time I moved to America. Harry Potter was a huge deal. I was in sixth grade. It was near the end of the year. The teacher showed Harry Potter in class. It had to be either this movie or the second Harry Potter movie. I had the toughest time understanding the diaglogues. I had just started learning English. For an English learner, English with a British accent may as well be a different language.
The first Harry Potter movie was a little all over the place. On a second thought, all Harry Potter movies were a little all over the place. To be fair, the first movie had a lot of ground to cover. It introduced a new world and set the stage for the rest of the series. I wish the Sorcerer's Stone, the centerpiece of the first movie, played a bigger role in the rest of the series. That wasn't the case.
I applaud J.K. Rowling for her imagination. To come up with this new world, all the fantasy elements and the story and to piece everything together cohesively is an impressive feat.
